Walk through the proverbial corridors of CED and you will hear, more than once, that the developments are coming along fast and there is a multitude of changes that are being put in motion. Companies are purchased, others are sold, and our appearance is changing. New colleagues, coming from ‘other worlds’, walk in and are sometimes fulfilling a position that previously didn’t exist. We are on the verge of conquering Europe. In some places we are changing our way of working as we have to become more client oriented. To make sure that all is running smoothly, we are starting a considerable number of projects, with a PMO manager who guides us, but also pushes us. Oh yes, meanwhile sales, of course, continue as normal. After all, during the renovation the shop remains open and we are all giving it that extra bit. Of course, just like a CED employee is used to doing.
Why are we doing all this? A midlife crisis? A facelift for a 40 year old, or is it more than that? Things are going fine, aren’t they? A record number in assignments and clients, an ever growing company. And each year it is going better. OK, there are a few points that require attention. We want to innovate faster, but we want to do this in close collaboration with our clients. Clients feel that we do not always listen to them enough. And as far as application of modern technologies is concerned, oh well, the fax is still working fine, why should we bother?
After all, we have now become 40 years old, we are the largest in the Netherlands and we have sufficient wisdom and experience to know what is good for us. Or maybe it is the need and temptation of a second youth? Who doesn’t want to do everything over again with the knowledge and experience of today. Still energetic enough to grow, to go along with the changes in the world we work in.
And that’s putting the finger on the spot: rapidly changing surroundings expect CED to change along with them. Changing in order to, in the long term, continue to exist, be able to grow, and again take the lead in the claims management of insurers. So, no such a thing as a midlife crisis or a facelift, simply another 40 years in good health. Perhaps even 40 years of ongoing rebuilding, enabling further continuity.
Maybe it is then not such a bad idea to put everything into scaffolds, before you know it, it could go wrong rapidly. So, Prisma: a programme that brings together all those projects which help us to take the right steps, and maybe will even give us a wake-up call before we fall asleep. Wake up!
We take all our qualities along to our future, but we also add new things. We want to professionalise (think about IT and Account management), we want to innovate (to keep our lead in the market), and we are going to internationalise picking up and taking all our qualities along with us.
